BVI Offshore Law firm announces expansion of HK Team

Harney Westwood & Riegels, one of the oldest and the largest law firms in the British Virgin Islands, providing legal services to world’s top law firms, financial institutions and corporations, announced the expansion of its legal team in Hong Kong jurisdiction. The new persons who joined the HK team are litigation counsel James Noble and banking and finance associate Vanisha Harjani.

James Noble for about two years was a member of the firm’s litigation and insolvency group in the Cayman Islands and the British Virgin Islands. His specialty is shareholder litigation and hedge fund disputes, as well as financial services litigation and insolvency.

Vanisha Harjani specializes in banking and finance transactions, including secured and unsecured lending, asset and acquisition finance and structured finance. She practises both British Virgin Islands law and Cayman Islands law.

Harneys now have 14 principal fee earners and 3 paralegals in Hong Kong, covering all main BVI and Cayman Islands transactional, restructuring and litigation practice areas.

Managing partner of the HK office Jonathan Culshaw commented on this expansion, saying that “Harneys is growing on multiple fronts in Asia and it is essential that we have the right team of lawyers who will help us deliver the rapid response and high level legal advice for which the firm is known.”

BVI corporation ranked as No. 1 Banking IT Solution Provider in China

Yucheng Technology Limited, BVI-registered company providing IT services to the banking industry of China, was named No. 1 Banking IT solution provider in China in 2011, by the industry research firm IDC.

This is the second year in a row when Yucheng was ranked No. 1 IT solution provider by revenues and by market shares, which increased from 5.2% to 5.4% in 2011. Also, the BVI company maintained 2nd place in Management Solutions with market share of 6.9% and raised from No.2 to No. 1 in Channel Solutions with market share of 8.1%.

Yucheng remained No.1 in E-Banking Solutions with market share of 17.7%, in Loan Management Solutions with market share of 10.1%, in Call Center Solutions with market share of 14.8%, and in Business Intelligence Solutions with market share of 13.8%. Also, the BVI company improved its position in Risk Management Solutions to No. 1, with market share of 6.6%, and achieved No. 2 rankings in Customer Relationship Management Solutions with market share of 9.2%.
